According to the announcement by China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment, from July 1, 2026, the use of cleaning agents containing Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) in industrial cleaning fields such as electronics and metal processing will be completely prohibited. This is an important measure for China to fulfill its commitments under the Montreal Protocol, and also marks the complete withdrawal of traditional chlorinated cleaning solvents from the Chinese market.

In terms of alternative solutions, hydrocarbon cleaners and water-based cleaners are recognized by the industry as two mainstream directions. Hydrocarbon cleaners offer strong cleaning power, distillability for recovery, and zero corrosion to metals, making them particularly suitable for precision electronics and high-end manufacturing cleaning needs. Water-based cleaners, with their non-flammable safety, low usage cost, and wide applicability, are rapidly penetrating the general industrial cleaning field.

According to industry data, the penetration rate of water-based cleaners in electronics, automotive, and precision instrument sectors has exceeded 60% in 2025-2026, with the market size expected to surpass 45 billion RMB. Tansochem, as a technology enterprise with dual-line portfolio in hydrocarbon and water-based products, has completed HCFC-free replacement across its entire product line in advance, providing one-stop switching solutions for customers affected by the ban.
